Orthopedic Medical Assistant

High-volume multi-specialty practice seeks experienced Medical Assistant to join our clinic team, working alongside our talented Orthopedic Surgeons, Neurosurgeons, and Physician Assistants. Summary of Duties*

  1. Room patients/triage- taking vitals and detailed patient histories, relaying the information to the doctor and recording into EMR system (eClinical Works)
  2. Answer inbound calls, faxes and emails
  3. Assist physician with minor in-office procedures and injections
  4. Application of DME bracing – apply braces and provide instructions on how to properly use (on site employee training available)
  5. Assist the doctor in sending electronic prescriptions and dispensing medication in-house
  6. Aid doctor with chart documentation
  7. "Chart Prep" for upcoming appointments- obtaining outside records, obtaining diagnostic imaging reports & images, corresponding with patients and other medical facilities to ensure proper documents are obtained prior to patient’s appointment
  8. Perform insurance authorizations (for procedures and diagnostic imaging) & coordinating peer to peer discussions and conference calls for the doctor
  9. Process insurance/PCP referrals- ensuring we have proper incoming referrals for services; Sending outgoing referrals/orders
  10. Manage supply inventory
  11. Schedule appointments and following up on appointment cancellations & no shows
  12. Maintain clean & sanitized office environment
  13. Protect patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
  14. Uphold operations by following policies and procedures; reporting potential for change and improvement
  15. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results and work closely with other departments (Front Desk, Surgery, Billing, Medical Records, Legal/Work Comp, etc)

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Must be willing and able to travel to multiple locations (rotating schedule)
  2. Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  3. Must be customer service driven, patient, and kind
  4. Must have the ability to multi-task, be detail oriented and thorough in completing tasks
  5. Must have the ability to work within a team environment
  6. Must be a self-starter, able to successfully complete tasks and meet goals with minimal supervision
  7. Must be willing and able to travel to multiple facilities in Palm Beach County and Broward County- Mileage reimbursement is available for qualifying travels
  8. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
  9. Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant
  10. High School diploma or GED
  11. Experience with EclinicalWorks PREFERRED, but not required
  12. Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
  13. Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour
