General Duties of the Medical Receptionist:
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
- Maintains the reception area and waiting room. These areas should to be tidy at all times.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining the confidentiality of personal and financial information
- Proficient data entry
- Proper patient check-in process
- Checks multiple electronic verification systems to verify current health insurance coverage.
- Referrals coordination (in and out)
- Co-pay and account balance collections. Maintain daily log of monies. Prepare end of day statements.
- Managing a high volume phone. Checking voicemails, emails and faxes
- Assist clinical staff with chart preparation
- Scanning
- Faxing
Additional position expectations:
- Answers and screens inquiry calls, faxes, and emails from prospective clients and patients.
- Communicates with other team members/departments constructively in order to reduce conflict and enhance the resolution of issues.
- Displays the ability to communicate with others effectively, listen closely and convey points clearly.
- Shows proficiency with computer programs which may include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and others (eClinical Works experience is a PLUS)
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and the ability to calm patients or clients who may be distraught and make decisions based upon anticipated outcomes.
- Possesses the ability to adjust to constantly changing workloads.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 2 years experience in the healthcare field
- Previous experience with Eclinical Works required
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
- Bilingual (English/ Spanish)
