Managing Stress Fractures and Growth Plate Injuries in Adolescents:
Adolescents participating in physical activities are susceptible to stress fractures and growth plate injuries due to the combined effects of growth spurts and repetitive strain. These injuries necessitate meticulous attention and management, particularly in teenagers who are still undergoing physical development.
The most common site of tendon injuries is in the ankle, knee, or elbow joints. A tendon injury affects the touch fibers that connect muscles to bones. One of the larger tendons is called the Achilles tendon. This connects the calf muscle to the heel bone. Tendon injuries most commonly occur near the joints. The shoulders can also be affected. While it may appear that a tendon injury may suddenly occur, they’re usually the result of smaller tears to the tendon that have occurred over time.
A hip labral tear is one of the most common sporting or work injuries. It occurs when the labrum, a band of cartilage that helps stabilize the hip joint, is damaged. The hip joint is a ball-and-socket joint, with the femur (thigh bone) connecting to the ilium (pelvic girdle).
